The app

What does the app do?

It sets up and controls Bocci smart switches. You create an account, add a “home”, pair a switch to your Wi-Fi, and then control it from your phone — on and off per gang, an off-timer, the power-on behaviour after an outage, and the indicator LED.

Which products does it work with?

The Ø46 Smart Multiway Switch to start. Further Bocci devices will be added; the app is built around the same platform, so support arrives without a new app.

Where do I download it?

Do I need an account?

Yes. Your switches are bound to an account so that settings, schedules and access survive reinstalling the app or changing phone, and so control works when you're away from home.

Why does my verification code come from Tuya, not Bocci?

The app runs on Tuya's IoT platform, and Tuya's servers send the verification email on our behalf. That's why the sender is unfamiliar. The email is legitimate — check your spam folder if it doesn't arrive within a minute or two. We're working with Tuya on branding the sender; until that's done, the code will keep arriving this way.

I never got the code.

Check spam first. Then confirm the address you typed, and use resend in the app after the countdown finishes. Corporate mail filters are the usual culprit — if you're on a work address and nothing arrives, try a personal one.

What is a “home”, and why do I need one?

A home is the group your switches belong to — an apartment, a floor, a project. Devices are paired into a home, so you need one before you can add a switch. Most people only ever have one. If you manage several properties, create a home for each and switch between them at the top of the app.

Wi-Fi and pairing

Why does it insist on 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi?

The switch has a 2.4 GHz radio only — it has no 5 GHz hardware. This is normal for smart-home devices: 2.4 GHz travels further and penetrates walls better, which matters for something sealed into a wall box.

Many routers broadcast one combined name for both bands. If your phone happens to be on the 5 GHz half, pairing will fail even though the network name looks right. Either split the bands temporarily in your router settings, or connect your phone to a 2.4 GHz guest network while you pair.

Which networks won't work?

Pairing can't find the switch.

The switch has to be in pairing mode first — hold its button until the indicator blinks quickly. If it isn't blinking, it isn't listening, and the app will simply time out. Then check you're on 2.4 GHz, and stay near the switch while it pairs.

It finds the switch but pairing fails.

Almost always the Wi-Fi password. Retype it rather than relying on autofill — a wrong password looks identical to a hardware fault from the app's side. If it still fails, put the switch into its slower blink and use Wi-Fi AP mode, which joins the switch's own temporary network to hand over the credentials. It's slower but more tolerant.

Do I need Bluetooth and location switched on?

The operating system requires both permissions to scan for nearby devices during setup — on Android and iOS alike. They're used for pairing, not to track you, and you can revoke them afterwards. On iPhone, Local Network must be allowed or pairing fails silently.

Using it day to day

Does the switch still work if the internet is down?

Yes. It's a wall switch first — the physical button always works, wired directly to the load. Losing Wi-Fi or internet costs you app control and schedules, not light. Pressing the switch by hand also updates the app once it reconnects.

What does “offline” mean next to my device?

The switch isn't reachable from the cloud right now — usually Wi-Fi or a power cut at the switch. The button on the wall still works. It'll come back on its own when the network does.

Can someone else in my household control the switches?

Not yet in this version. Today a home belongs to the account that created it, so sharing means sharing the sign-in. Multi-user access with separate logins is planned; if you need it, tell us — it helps us prioritise.

How do firmware updates work?

Firmware for the switch is delivered over the air. When one is available the app offers it on the device screen. Keep power on and stay on the network while it installs — it takes a couple of minutes, and the switch is briefly unavailable.

Account, data and privacy

How do I delete my account?

In the app: Settings → Delete account. It removes the account and its device bindings, and it can't be undone — paired switches have to be set up again afterwards. You can also do it without the app on the account deletion page.

What data does the app collect?

In short: your account email, the devices you've added and their on/off state, the Wi-Fi name used during setup, and technical diagnostics. Device data is processed by Tuya on our behalf in the Western America data centre. The full detail is in the privacy policy, and the terms of service cover use of the app.

Do I have to keep the app to keep the switch working?

No. The switch functions as an ordinary wall switch without any app, account or network.
